Thoughts on Easter

It has always seemed to me that we Christians minimize the Easter season. At Christmas we prepare for weeks and weeks, readying to celebrate the birth of Jesus or whatever commercialized traditions that we have established. At Easter we dye a few eggs and buy new clothes for the biggest attended church service of the year. Now don't misunderstand me, Christmas is a wonderful time of year, one of my favorites times in fact.

But think about the meaning of Easter, in all its simplicity and all its profundity. Jesus came to die so that we might live. And there is the miraculous part: Easter Sunday resurrection. What a wonderful promise! Not only did Jesus arise from the grave but so will we -- and all of our loved ones to forever LIVE together with our Lord Jesus. We should throw the most wonderful celebration of the year at the victory of this day. This is the culmination of what Jesus came to earth to do.

He gave us life.
