Helping Those Who Move

Today I ate my words. What can I say - I love the movers.

Life in the Fast Lane

It has been a busy week for me; actually more than a week. Last weekend it was my greatest pleasure to have two of my grandchildren for the weekend. We had a good time Saturday at Rough and Ready Days. Then on Sunday Mom and Dad were home from Alaska and I had to return them to their "rightful owners." (sniff, sniff) For the rest of the afternoon, it was time for a short nap, supper at Kelso with my son and his family and then packing for ACIC conference in Hot Springs. So, my Mother's Day weekend was packed full of the most wonderful grands in the world. Getting to see all four of them in one day is always a special treat.

After a busy morning at work on Monday, we were off to beautiful Hot Springs, which is one of my favorite towns to visit, for the conference at the Arlington. The conference was very informative this year, lots of new stuff in the making and new legislation that I liked concerning certain crimes. We discovered a bar/coffee shop last year which has local blues musicians who play every Wednesday night. So, off we go for an entertaining evening at Maxine's. Since I love the blues, this was the highlight of the trip. Wish I lived closer and could listen every week.

Last night my daughter, sister, and Mom came over to help with spiffing up the house for Dad's 80th birthday party coming up Sunday. I felt like I had a wonderful maid service and it made cleaning so much more pleasant with my grands running around and giving me hugs every so often. Abby was a whizz on the small, lightweight vacuum, too. Andy has been helping me get the yard cleaned up for a couple of weeks now. With all the trees, it is a big job getting sticks and leaves up and mowing. I have been truly blessed with all the extra help lately.

Streams of Living Water

We at Immanuel Baptist Church have an interim pastor at this time whose preaching and teaching is like a fresh drink of water to my soul. He can simplify things, such as when he describes faith as "having confidence in God" or he can really challenge me to think through what he is preaching and dig a little deeper into God's Word.

I have been guilty in the past of catching myself dosing during a sermon especially when I am really tired as I was tonight. But my interest is being held to such an extent that I successfully managed to stay awake tonight even though the easy thing would have been to doze. In my defense, let me add that no matter what is going on around me, if I sit very still, I doze. I think there is a button in my bottom that switches to sleep mode when sat upon.

It is very mentally stimulating and spiritually refreshing to be challenged by good Biblical teaching. So if you are looking for such a place, please join us any Sunday or Wednesday. You'll be glad you did.
